What we believe

SCRIPTURE

We believe the Bible (the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments) is the Word of God, written as a "God-breathed" revelation from the Holy Spirit. We believe it is divinely inspired and completely without error in its original writings. Scripture reveals the being, nature, and character of God, the nature of God's creation, and especially His will for the salvation of human beings through Jesus Christ. The Bible is therefore our supreme and final authority in all matters that it addresses.

GOD

We believe in one infinitely perfect, eternal and personal God, the Creator and sovereign Sustainer of the universe. We understand the Hebrew name for our God to be YHWH which is pronounced Yahweh and translated as Jehovah or LORD in many of our Bibles. Yet we believe in addressing our God as Father just like Jesus did (Matthew 6:9).

HOLY SPIRIT

We believe that the Holy Spirit is God’s spirit, the omnipresent part of God that is everywhere. We believe in the ministry of the Holy Spirit in salvation, a ministry which includes anointing and glorifying Christ, convicting men of their sin, bringing about the regeneration of lost sinners, and indwelling believers and empowering them for godly living and spiritual service.

JESUS CHRIST

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God who existed with God before the world was ever formed. We believe that God sent Jesus in the form of a man to be the Messiah and Savior of the world. We also believe in the great events surrounding Jesus Christ's life and ministry, including: His virgin birth, His attesting miracles, His sinless life, His sacrificial death on the cross, His glorious bodily resurrection from the dead, His ascension into heaven where He is seated at the right hand of the Father, and His present work in heaven as High Priest and Advocate on our behalf. He will return in glory to resurrect and judge all mankind.

SALVATION

We believe salvation comes through Jesus Christ alone. Not just believing in Jesus or infant baptism, but having a personal relationship or a born again experience where Jesus comes to dwell in our hearts. We believe that our Salvation experience should be confirmed by baptism which according to Scripture is full immersion in water, signifying your death and burial of the old you and resurrection of the new man in Christ.

THE CHURCH

We believe in the five fold ministry for the building up of the body of Christ as stated in Ephesians 4:11 "And he gave some to be apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; for the perfecting of the saints, unto the work of ministering, unto the building up of the body of Christ:"

We believe that the church is the spiritual body of which Christ is the head. This church is composed of all persons who through the saving faith in Jesus Christ have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit who gives spiritual gifts to all believers in order to build up their spiritual brothers and sisters in love. We believe the church is not about a building; it is about a community of believers coming together who have been called out of the world and into a life of service to our Lord and Savior Jesus. We also believe in mutual submission of Christians to each other in love.

We believe in two ordinances for the local church; baptism by immersion and the Lord's Supper. We believe that within the local church you will see the manifestation of the full Gospel of Jesus Christ. By that we mean that signs and wonders did not "pass away" with the early church; and by faith, those miracles are still working for all believers.

We believe in the full working of the Holy Spirit through what Jesus said would accompany those who believe. "And these signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will cast out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up serpents with their hands; and if they drink any deadly poison, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will recover." (Mark 16:17,18)

CHRISTIAN CONDUCT

We believe that the supreme task of every believer is to glorify God in life and conduct and be blameless before the world. Each Christian should be a faithful steward of all possessions and seek to realize in every area of life the full stature of maturity in Christ.
